The following is a list of all FAQ Replies for assistant on #xchat

Many of the FAQ items have multiple strings which may trigger the line. This allows for common variations to be used for ease in remembering.

Triggers may be called in the following formats:

Simply send the reply to the channel

`xchat trigger # comment

Send the reply to the channel, but have a comment added with additional information

`xchat trigger @ username

Prefix the reply with a user or other string

`xchat trigger @ username # comment

Both Prefix, as well as have a comment

xchat flood control: gui_auto_open_dialog is disabled when xchat thinks you've been flooded: when there have been more than flood_msg_num (flood_ctcp_num) pms (ctcps) in flood_msg_time (flood_ctcp_time) seconds.

xchat-gnome: Xchat-GNOME is not the same as XChat. It has a completly different interface from XChat. With so many differences, it is not supported in #xchat. xchat scrollback: Starting in 2.8.4, XChat allows for the text (without formating) of a tab to be re-printed when it is re-opened. To enable or disable this feature, navigate Preferences -> Logging, and toggle the "Display scrollback from previous session" option.

xchat join/part: To disable joins and parts from being displayed in all channels, type "/set irc_conf_mode 1".. To apply this setting to all current channels, type "/gui apply".
To disable the prints for only certain channels, right click on the channel tab and click "Settings -> Hide Join/Part Messages" ("Show join/part messages" in previous versions). To save the individual settings across sessions, use 2.8.6 or newer.

Log path format: XChat allows you to customize the name of your logs, and automatically handles breaking up logs chronologically. In Settings -> Preferences -> Logging, set the Log filename to include any of the variables found at http://xchat.org/docs/log/ (a modified list of strftime variables). To change the location of the log, provide a full path in the log filename.
Example: A path of "%n/%Y/%c-%Y-%m.log" would create a directory structure inside of xchatlogs of: [NetworkName] -> [year] -> #[channelname]-[year]-[MO].log

XChat Ignore syntax: XChat will ignore based on hostname rather than nick (except 2.8.6 and newer). For more information on the syntax of /ignore, see /help ignore and http://toxin.jottit.com/xchat_ignore

The Silverex build of XChat 2.8.4 has problems crashing when clicking on the system tray icon. To avoid this problem, try using one of the other builds, or disabling the built in tray (Preferences -> Alerts -> Enable system tray icon = unchecked) and using the following plugin: http://www.sinisterdevelopments.com/X-Tray/
