SilvereX(redirected from Using.Silverex) SilvereX creates the most used build of XChat for Windows other than the official build. Currently, SilvereX's build is 2.8.6-2, released March 08, 2009. There is not a release schedule for when the next build of XChat will be released by SilvereX. Known IssuesVersion 2.8.6 says it is "YChat" rather than "XChat" in several locations, including the Task Manager. In version 2.8.4, the Minimize to tray does not work for some (most?) people, as it causes XChat to crash. You can either not deal with the tray, or use an older plugin to get most of the behavior.
In version 2.8.6-2, the X-Tray plugin is bundled with XChat, and so does not need to be installed separtely. The Download page states that ActivePerl 5.10 is required, when in actuality ActivePerl 5.8 is required. If you have ActivePerl 5.10 installed, learn about the alternative perl plugin for 5.10 SSL on FreenodeWhen Freenode implemented SSL on the network, they used a Certificate Authority that wasn't recognized by everyone. While the certificates are working on the official build and most Linux distributions, SilvereX has had problems. To get SSL on Freenode working, a bit of work needs to be done.
